Howdy everyone! As the new year and new semester gets underway at TAMU, “new normals” of a rapidly changing climate continue to be set, with increasing concerns for our economy and toll on human and environmental health. The urgency to act inspires an opportunity to create a space (workshop) this spring for students to gather and dialogue, build solidarity and identify

Below is a proposed Sustainability and Climate Action Workshop (SACA) for Spring 2020 that hopefully evolves into an annual event to builds momentum and continuity from the first SACA workshop.
Please share the SACA flyer with fellow Aggies and TAMU student organizations, and encourage interested students to sign up for the SACA workshop. A few volunteers to attend the pre-planning workshop would be great, too, to help plan the main workshop. Students who will be at TAMU for at least a year or more are especially helpful to have on board.
Workshop space is limited–the sign-up sheet will help determine if a larger space is needed. Sustainability and Climate Action Workshop: April 1, 4:45-6:30 PM in Rudder 701. Seating for 66 participants (may be able to find a larger room if needed). GOAL: Interested students on campus gather to discuss sustainability-oriented challenges and identify concrete projects to develop and implement locally; demonstrate ways in which Aggieland and TAMU can better prepare for the current and future impacts of climate change. They would apply TAMU’s best social, scientific and technological knowledge toward solutions for pressing environmental

Pre-Workshop Planning Session: March 3, either around 4:30-6 PM (MSC) OR 6-8 PM (AGLS West Campus). Any time/location preferences? 40 seat room capacity. GOALS: Invite a small number of interested students, student association reps., instructors, faculty, staff, to brainstorm some project ideas (illustrative) and work on logistics, facilitators, for the April 1 workshop. Invite

The SACA workshop will help complement and support local sustainability actions that the Office of Sustainability and various TAMU student groups and researchers have been facilitating and advancing. SACA is a call for Aggie leadership and action at a critical time.
We look forward to hearing from you!
