Background
Heather Baldi is an agroecologist whose passion for conservation and reclamation collide with regenerative agriculture. Her teaching has focused on educating students about agronomic practices while dispelling myths regarding conventional agriculture, pesticides, and GMOs. Heather’s teaching philosophy is that everyone has something to teach, and everyone has something to learn. She is extremely committed to student engagement and success and was awarded the Texas A&M AgriLife’s Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Graduate Student Teaching from the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences in 2020 due to her dedication. She is also a Graduate Mentoring Academy Fellow.
Heather completed her BS in 2015 from Texas A&M, double majoring in Renewable Natural Resources and Rangeland Ecology & Management and completed the requirements for a watershed certificate. She received her MS in Agronomy in 2019 and will receive her PhD in December 2023 in Agronomy, both from Texas A&M. Her research has focused on the creation and characterization of sustainable soil amendments utilizing the process of torrefaction. Heather’s enthusiasm for perennial grass breeding as well as soil carbon sequestration has also led to multiple collaborations and participation in field-based research in Colombia and Brazil. She was also one of the first students to help start agronomic research in industrial hemp at Texas A&M.
Heather is originally from Los Angeles, California. In her free time, she enjoys bowling, playing board games, and watching movies with her family. Time permitting, they love camping and traveling.
