Call for Proposals for Research Grants 2025
The EEB Program at Texas A&M University is requesting proposals for EEB Research Grants ($1,500 each). The intended objective of these awards is to facilitate preliminary data collection by EEB Ph.D. students.
Applicant Eligibility
Only Ph.D. students enrolled in the EEB Program may apply. EEB students who did not receive an award during the last round of funding will be heavily prioritized.
Deadline for Application
- Applications are due by 5 pm on Monday, April 7th.
- Please submit all documents within your packet as a single, combined PDF file and email to heather.baldi@ag.tamu.edu.
Grant Proposal Format
The application must contain the following information:
-
- Proposed investigation – this section should include significance of the proposed research in the big picture of ecology and evolutionary biology; background on the specific question and study system; specific research objectives and hypotheses; and methods. This section is limited to 500 words plus literature cited and up to two figures and tables.
- Budget – this section should include a line-by-line budget and a short budget justification. Make sure your budget matches your research objectives and hypotheses you introduced in section 1. In other words, if you are requesting funds for a camera trap, it should be clear from section 1 why you would need a camera trap.
- Advisor’s letter – a letter from your advisor approving your proposed activities is required.
- Please ensure that the advisor’s letter includes a footnote for a 24-account number (02-24XXXX-XXXXX) where you would like the funds to be transferred. Typically, a PI has a sub account created for the student through their department’s business office. Your PI may also utilize an account they already have established.
- Results of previous support – this section is only necessary if you received a research grant in a prior semester. In a paragraph, please itemize how that money was used and why you are requesting additional funds.
Please contact Heather Baldi (see email above) with any questions.
