Non-Academic Careers and Leaving Academia

January 7, 2014

Happy New Year folks!

Lately, my twitter feed has had a bit of discussion about non-academic careers and leaving academia. Here are a few links if you’re interested in doing some reading on these topics:

Megan Duffy (University of Michigan) discusses training for non-academic careers here (be sure to read the comments too)

Prof-like Substance (website here; also a great source for discussions about funding, esp. NSF) continues a past discussion about how many PhDs are currently be produced here

And Scicurious (website here) and others discuss leaving academia here (again, be sure to read the comments) and here and here

Not to be a Debbie-Downer in the New Year, but I think it is definitely important to think about these topics.

Best wishes,

Jessica
